A sunny liberation day..
Mommy suggested going over to Changi Beach earlier to get some vitamin D..

Photobucket

Being someone who absorbs sunlight like a sponge,
I was somewhat quite hesitant.
It was a love hate relationship with the sun.
I love being in the sun, on the beach, on the mountains, close to nature..
There's no where I'd rather be..
I dont mind having a nice brown tan..
But the UV rays always turn me charcoal (not brown) within a couple of minutes..
Since I grow muscles and tan easily I should have been a guy duh -.-

All the dim witted worries were cast away the minute I saw the high tided waves..
Like a balm to wounded minds..
Staring out at the limitless horizon was calmly reassuring..

Photobucket

The sky was exceptionally blue that day..

Photobucket
Photobucket

I was so gleeful when I saw those swings..
The feeling of being on a pendulum..
Shaking away the woes..
Swinging off the low moods..

Mommy joined me =)

Photobucket

There were many dogs at the beach that day..
One of them was this long fur chihuahua..
5 months old..
Cute to the max..
My hands could cover half of its body..

Photobucket

Caught this candid shot of mommy..
Heee..

Photobucket

She was happy..
So was I =)

*****

The waves that day were dangerously choppy..

The legendary rivalry of Nikon and Canon..

Got ourselves a free 14 megapix Canon Ixus 130 to play with..
LOL

SO,
Which is better (pun intended)..?

Photobucket

Brought the cam to lunch..
*These photos are not color enhanced*

Photobucket

I thought the macro and bokeh effects are pretty decent for a digital camera..

Photobucket

Then they have this function that left us very retarded..
P/S: He simply loves taking my ugly photos, so many of them -.-

Photobucket

Nikon's color was more natural though =p

There are many more functions that we have yet to experiment thoroughly..
So on the overall,
Not bad for such a slim camera..

One random Friday evening after work..

A slight drizzle kept the weather cool..
We were both in the mood to check out new places for dinner..
He suggested trying this Jap eating place which the auditor brought him the last time..

After rounds and rounds of detours and heavy jam..
We finally found the hidden entrance.

Sobasei @ Fairway Club

Photobucket

Settling down we quickly grabbed the menu..
Dear said they served really nice soba..
But there was no description for each dish name..
Absolutely no idea what the traditional names of Japanese dishes are referring to..

Photobucket

One of the rare Fridays where we really felt TGIF.

Photobucket

Then the funny thing..

Photobucket

We tried a mini Shabu Shabu in Hokkaido while we were at Lake Toya..
But that was a buffet version which we could not really feel the authenticity of it..

They had a promotion on Shabu Shabu..
And the presentation of this Japanese steamboat was really good.
First came the sauces..
They had this peanut sauce that had the most burstful flavours I had ever tasted.
Strong peanut fragrance that was mildly salty and sweet at the same time..
Two types of shoyu,
One of which had a little citrus tinge..
And the appetizing spicy black sauce..
Then came the huge pile of vegetables and two plates of chicken meat..

Photobucket

What an enjoyable and wholesome meal that warmed the heart and stomach..
On this very calm and cooling Friday night =)

When an overboard of shopping therapy requires serious psychological therapy..

Last Thursday
I placed two orders.
And over the weekends,
I was notified that the TW sprees had arrived.
So I would probably receive all of them around the same time..

Had been in an extremely foul mood over for the past few days..
So the thought of the parcels gonna spice my life up a little..
Though I worry about a nagging dad =x

So I reached home that Tuesday night,
Thinking I would gleefully find all of them on my desk.

Photobucket

Damn.
I was preparing to bathe.
Went into mom's room for the moisturiser..

Photobucket

I burst into uncontrollable fits of hysteria..
Even more so after I saw daddy's face..

Sunday, July 18

D.r.e.a.m.s.
Subconsciousness.
Extracting secrets from one during vulnerable sleep
And planting realism within surrealism.

Have you ever tried connecting the storyline with the real world..
Perhaps that was how top secrets got stolen..
How inspirations from the most ingenious creators got leaked out..
How one powerful figure in the business world suddenly changed his mind on the collaborating decisions he made?

Inception left us breathless.
It's a word that really exists.
And it portrays a world that is so paradoxically tangible and undeniable,
An idea that was so successfully planted into the audience minds when they left the cinema..

Inception was first developed by Christopher Nolan, based on the notion of "exploring the idea of people sharing a dream space — entering a dream space and sharing a dream. That gives you the ability to access somebody’s unconscious mind.

Photobucket

In actual fact,
Christopher Nolan was not the first to play around with such lucid dreams..
In most of Shakespeare's plays
Like the hypothesis of the labyrinth of thoughts in Hamlet's cultivated mind..
Or the theme of "dream hath no bottom" to which Midsummer Night's Dream was based on..
This genius of all dramas and plays stirred the concept before, mercilessly.
I thought I saw a resemblance in their preoccupations of the human mind.

The way Nolan tells a story,
The way he played with complex reasoning,
The way he experiments with the complicated maze of human intellect..
It's mind blowing.
Simply a genius thinker like Shakespeare in modern time.
Just look at how he directed The Dark Knight

I'm really impressed by the way he made a comprehensive observation on the human body and behaviour.
How one can never remember how he first got into the dream..
The minute an idea is planted in the mind,
No matter how hard one tries to rid it, it will be fruitless.
The part where the show pulled in the water gushing effects, the gravity defying moments..
Those are not there for nothing.
It's a deft portrayal of how one feels his surroundings of the real life while dreaming.
For instance we felt the need to look for a loo in our dreams if in real life we felt our bladders bursting.
Or we felt we keep grasping for a jacket in our dreams and woke up feeling very cold.

But Nolan also hits us with hard reality..
The inability to differentiate dreams from the real world..
The subconscious mind haunts no matter how much one reconstructs his dream..
The memories that one refused to let go..
Playing those scenes in the mind over and over again..
That is when humans turn mad, become depressed and turn suicidal.

I left the cinema,
Awed and disturbed.
Not because this absolutely intriguing and wholesome notion was hard for me to grasp.
But because..

Photobucket

I experienced that two levels before..
Twice,
I dreamt that I was dreaming and trying desperately to get out of that second dream..
So it's possible for two layers but I'm not sure about four.
And lucid dreams,
I have that all the time..
I believe most people have that all the time.
So it's not difficult for most of us to grasp this..
Just that it scares me when this concept came to modern cinemas..
And someone out there does have the same musing as me.
Seeing this as a movie presented as a brand new dimension in four levels,
It reaffirmed me that I'm not abnormal to have such dreams (pun intended).
I'm really really blown away..

A post birthday celebration

Suki made the arrangements at Oriole Cafe..
At first I thought there was only the 2 of us..
But it was a pleasant surprise when she told me that very day Yan, Odin and Pail were joining us =)
So in the end she had to let it out to me before we meet..
Hurhurhur..

Photobucket

Food was average..
A lil overrated in fact..
And because the lighting is really warm and cosy,
There was no way my camera could produce decent food pictures.

After the meal
We popped over to Youth Park behind Cineleisure for some mix and match ice cream..

Photobucket
And
My customised goodies =D

Sunday, July 4

One Sunday afternoon at Riders Cafe

Photobucket

After so long..
I still did not manage to get a reservation for brunch.
So we gave the brunch a miss and thought we would try the tea instead.

Photobucket

The cafe was relatively empty at 4pm.
Perhaps the dining crowd is a gauge to how good the food is..
Well the food was not that fantastic nor that bad.
Just that the term value for money was a more suitable measurement.
A tad too pricey for the type of food served.

Citrus Prawn Skewers

I love the tingling sour sensation,
So I thought the lemon and prawns combination was quite refreshing.
The prawns were a little overcooked though.

Photobucket

Grilled Chicken Kebabs with mint yoghurt sauce

The chicken was average but the minty sauce added a little zest to the boring meat.

Photobucket

Death by Chocolate Cake

The reputation was definitely up to its name.
We were literally killed by its generous oozing, slightly bitter chocolate fudge with every mouthful of rich moist chocolate cake.
The cold vanilla bean ice cream gave an oxymoronic twist to the warm chocolate fudge.

Photobucket

Without a doubt,
This was the best of our orders.
Sinful calories to the max..!

It was DEATH indeed.

Photobucket

Guessed this was the time when all the horses were up and wandering around the premises..
Basking in the hot sun, grazing randomly whenever they found grass.
The clicking of the hooves were prominent outside the cafe on every 10 to 15 minutes interval.

We wandered around the saddle club after the meal in hope of seeing some white horses..

Horses are without fail,
One of the very dignified animals which can make one stop and stare in awe..

Photobucket

The white horses all passed us so quickly..
We finally found one grazing near the carpark =)

Photobucket

Look at its cute white eye lashes..
And it was making faces at me hurhur..

Photobucket

I approached it and patted its face..
Felt the strong bone facial structure beneath..
The owner actually warned not to stand behind the horse for fear it might kick.

A real magnificent being..

*****

Havent posted such pictures for a long time =p
I luv the dress..

Photobucket

The funny round thing that made 25 men run after it..
The 32 international teams that start off the every 4 years once kick off
The large colorful human mob that goes wild..
The time when the internet traffic ironically becomes slower after Starhub and Singtel TV charges $70 to $90 for a month of football frenzy.

World Cup is such such a big thing.

The official WC 2010 song

Waka Waka (This time for Africa)

The song that was used in the Coca Cola ad..

K'NAAN - Wavin' Flag (Coca-Cola Celebration Mix)

*****

A snippet from 1998,
When autobiographies were such a hit among the graduating classes.
When I was utterly and hopelessly addicted to WC 1998..

Photobucket

Back then,
I religiously woke up in the middle of the night to packs and containers of Pringles and Pocky bought or won from "bets" with my brothers and cousins.
Memorised the names of every single player from the Brazil and Holland team..
And hated the France team just because they beat Brazil in the finals..

Those were the times...
And that addiction is back to stay..
All thanks to that Man U fan
-.-

P/S: Why must Brazil meet Holland at such an early stage..??!!
