Self reflecting musings

Recent weeks have been spent on reflections.
Loads and shit loads of thoughts..
Sometimes knots can never untangle themselves.
Those permutations of incepted ideas..
Somehow if I cant change the situation
Maybe I’d change myself to adapt and prepare for it.
Sometimes I do wish I was a boy..

Funny how we were just talking the other night..
On first impressions.
About making unnecessary judgements and then being judged back.
We cant complain really..
But we complained anyway.
What goes up will come down eventually.

If you ever judge people, just have to be prepared to be judged back.
And if you cannot trust people, dont expect people to trust you.
If you see everything with cynicism, it's only natural that they view you with cynicism.

Judging sometimes makes people feel empowerment..
It allows inferiority to take a step back, raises that confidence level.
Or even perhaps judging makes you feel smarter.
It's free from responsibilities (and from the law)
But after making derogatory statements on others,
Does it really make you feel better?
Perhaps it does, if you delude yourself.

Used to detest it,
Hated people who judged me even before they knew me..
But I soon realized..
I do judge people myself.

*****

The clock goes ticking into the silence of the night..
The routine lies..
First alarm switched off and I await the other one..
Somewhere somehow I dreaded the msg tone.
It came as a distasteful and intruding penetration through the quiet dawn..
I jumped and I felt silly for jumping.
Those jitters..
Begone!
The cold sweat.
Cant my heart stop beating that wildly..?
Grab my stuff in pitch blackness
Rushed to the toilet
Rushed to wash up.
I forgot the bread, again.
And perhaps I should change my ring tone
Or change me.

*****

This platform’s my mean to jot down thoughts that I wouldn’t wish to scribble all over whatever papers I can find.
I’m quite surprised by who really reads it at times.
Of course the first reaction was WHAT THE HELL
But I gradually felt amused with the LOLs buzzing around me.
Perhaps keeping mum is also known as being dense.
SO am I really?
*Smiles*

How often have we come across scenarios..
When we thought the situation might seem to be like that..
Actually turned out to be the very opposite.
We spend time making self righteous comments, prophesize what could happen..
Which in fact those times can be used on more constructive realization of ideas?
Then again
People seldom see it till they are far too ill and bed ridden to realize they could have done so much more.

Things that we were so in awe of sometime back,
May lose its lustre somehow some day.
Imagine you snap a picture at a particular angle..
What are the odds of capturing that exact same shot again?
Nothing’s forever, really.
Because people do change.
Youth, thoughts, likes and dislikes, fashion sense..
Kinship, relationships, friendships..
Why is that so difficult to trust each other?
If we thought we wouldn’t do this and this now..
Don’t claim it.
Such words are jinxed.

Had a conversation with daddy over dinner yesterday night.
I was sort of guilt stricken to have put my words across so forcefully.
The dispute among the elders has absolutely nothing to do with me.
Who’s right who’s wrong..
Are we in the place to judge?
Everyone’s actions are based on their perspectives at that point in time.
Something they deem right there and then.

*****

Turned my palm facing myself facing up so that I can see the white side.
Now I cant see the other black side.
Yes I can position my hand to see part of the black and part of the white..
Still I cannot see the whole of the black and the whole of the white.
Tell me how to see both sides of the same palm..?

*****

We are always too fast to judge and too slow to reflect upon ourselves.
I'm guilty nonetheless.
Then again,
Reflections are useless if we merely think about them.
Old habits do die hard.
Saying sorry doesnt mean anything if we keep repeating the same mistake.
I'm tired,
The camel's back is breaking.

Shape Run 2010

Photobucket

Finally the three of us managed to Shape Run together =)

Overslept in the morning..
And I finally understand why..
HP alarm was set to a repetition of Mondays to Fridays at 6:15 am.
I changed the timing to 5:30 am the previous night but I forgot to turn off the repetition thingy -.-
So obviously it would not ring on a Sunday morning duh..

So I'm damn damn guilty..
First I suggested cabbing the previous morning cos I thought the run was the usual Esplanade area
Then I realised they changed the run venue to Nicoll Highway.
And I dunno where to ask the cab driver to stop if we were to take a cab.
Then I read the guide again we could alight at Nicoll Highway MRT Station..
So I texted them at night to take the MRT instead.
And I overslept the next morning (well done)
And both of them had to wait for me at the station..
Go one big round we ended up cabbing again..
Air headed -.-

Ran with the post effects of fever just the night before.
I had missed Sundown, and I refused to miss this one.

The sunrise behind us was awesome.

The cobalt blue goodie bag..

The Quayside was a quiet and quaint vicinity..
The river was at close proximity, adorned by the colorful Alkaff bridge.

Some well geared joggers ran past, immersed in their MP3s..
With bottles of water strapped to their waists..
A sign that there are more distance to cover..
Caucasians with cute kids gathered in big groups..
Passer bys from the nearby expensive neighbourhood strolled their dogs..
The closest that homesick Western expats can get to feel home.

Photobucket

The weather and the peace was perfect for alfresco dining.
Natural lighting was at its best.

Photobucket

All thanks to the laggy GPS..
We were quite famished when we settled down.

I love eggs..
Hence without a doubt the list on the menu drove me crazy.

Choices
When we are left with no choice, we complain.
When we have too many choices, we just cannot make up our bloody minds..

But still really too bad when they ran out of poached eggs..
Eggs Benedict was not available.

While waiting for our food..
He is really addicted to the fish eye effect lol..

Photobucket

His order
(Something refreshingly new)

Photobucket

Mine
(Kinda dish customisation where you can select the number of sides you will like with your choice of eggs)

Photobucket

The potatoes are awesome.
Till now it still strikes me that they have really good cooks.
The dishes came without much sodium to them.
The salt and pepper are on the table where you can control how salty you want your food to be.
It sets me thinking..
Isn't salt supposed to bring out the flavours in food as you stir them together with the food in the frying pan?
By cooking food without salt and yet able to retain the sumptuous taste..
If those are not good culinary skills, then what is it..?

Photobucket

We were really full when we finished everything on the plate.
A stark contrast eh?
Dear was too full for desserts so I thought I would order something to ease digestion.

Photobucket

It was really......

Photobucket

Hanged out the area for a while =)

Sometimes..
Before we start to condemn and belittle..
Shouldn't we reflect upon ourselves?

All things aside,
Who are we to judge?

A post loooong overdue
4 Fridays ago..
We shoot off after work excitedly to catch a performance at the Esplanade..
It was another birthday treat by him two months back.

Before the show we went for dinner opposite Esplanade at MS.
Mr Curry was having a promotion..

Total bill: $15.00 after GST and service charge LOL

Sachoom (or Love Dance)

It means 'dance when you are in love'..
Combining dance and music to tell a story.
The performance follows a story of love, friendship and passion between three close friends on their journey from childhood to adulthood.

The story is told through vibrant and powerful dance moves of various dance genres such as hip hop, jazz, techno, break dance, pop dance and modern ballet.
A non verbal dance musical with 80mins of dynamic dancing.

We were both clearly excited when we saw the tickets on sale at Sistic.
Without any hesitation
We were determined to catch this since we missed Breakout back in March.

The show started off with the comical screen translations of what to take note while watching the show..
No words were spoken, but the light hearted mood was set.
The burst of energetic youthfulness..
Overwhelming.

All the videos below were recorded by the new Canon Ixus 130..
Loveee the quality!

The start-off dance

Though I've seen such acts before..
They never fail to impress me on their coordination and choreography =)

It wasnt all dance though..
There were much interactions with the audience through funny mimes..
Facial expressions were wholesome..
Reminded us how good actors the Koreans are.

Two window cleaners at work

There was some sort of a dance within a dance..
Where the clash of the black dancers (jazz and modern ballet) and the white dancers (hip hop and break dance) was intended upon.
Each took turns to showcase their different styles
But both are capable of incredulous body movements..

Suki,
Watch this video at 0:22!!

See how the crazy dancer did the yoga legs lifting move in more than 270 degrees and we struggled to do a mere 10 degree lift -.-

Like I said there were many interactions with the audience..
The grand finale came with everyone on their feet..
Dancing to the simple choreography demonstrated by the dancers themselves..
Turning the whole Esplanade hall into a discotheque.

How often do you find performers at the Esplanade stayed on to take pictures with the audience after the end of the performance?
The Koreans are really amiable people..
With each picture they took with every audience,
They tirelessly turned to them with a slight bow and thanked them with a smile.

Photobucket

What a blast we had..
Unanimously,
Both of us felt the money was really well spent..

Don bought a few of this awesome blings from China in various colors that I thought they were some brooches.

He asked me to pick one and so I did.

Photobucket

But there were no pins nor clips behind..
So what was it?

Don gleefully showed me..

Photobucket

So here it is..

Photobucket

Yes it was that strong to hold my 3kg bag load..
And it works on any surfaces =D
Nice!
